Ferrite toroids are convenient and the shape is very effective for making wide band, pulse, power transformers and inductors. The continuous magnetic path yields the highest effective permeability and the lowest flux leakage of any shape. The low cost of toroid cores makes them also economical to use for transformers, inductors, and common mode chokes.
